Tan Care

For customers who have made a booking, we ask that you please send us your email address so we can provide you with more detailed information on how to prepare for your tan, as well as tips to looking after it.

General Pre-tan preparation:

Scrubs (if it contains oil, only use the day before), loofahs, and hot, long baths or showers work best for exfoliating the skin. Ideally we recommend having a long exfoliating shower/bath close to your booking, however time-poor customers may do their main exfoliation process the night before, and have a quick scrub before their booking.

Pay close attention to dry areas such as - hands, knees, elbows, where your bra sits on your shoulder & underarms, ankles, feet, bikini line.

Shaving or Waxing:

Waxing and shaving must be done 24 hours prior to your Spray Tan. When you shave or wax, you are exposing the hair follicle, meaning the tanning solution will sometimes sit in the pore, and darken, resulting in tiny spots all over your legs/arms, bikini line, however this is sometimes inevitable and cannot be helped.

After your Spray Tan application:

The immediate colour you see is called the colour guide. This will sometimes come off on your clothes and sheets. It is water-soluble so it should wash out of natural fabrics (wash ASAP after sleeping in or wearing), but will stain synthetics.

Clothing: Dark and loose fitting. Bras & tight underwear will wear away at your tan before it’s had a chance to develop, resulting in a patchy tan.

Footwear: Bare feet or slippers, thongs or soft sandals. Shoes and socks are not recommended.

Exercise: Avoid strenuous activity causing you to perspire and resulting in an uneven tan. Limit exposure to water, such as dishwashing, laundry, washing hands (be careful not to wet the top of hands). We recommend washing hands with a damp face cloth & soap so you have control over where the water goes.

Showering – after the 8 hour development time

Shower after 8 hours (longer won’t affect your tan) using a gentle shower gel or soap. Lather skin with hands or a soft puff. The colour guide is meant to wash away. Your tan will be developed at this point, however some solutions continue to develop slightly up to 24 hours (even after washed off).

Make sure showers are fairly short, and cooler rather than hotter. Gently pat skin dry with a towel - this is often when tans can be scratched off if treated roughly. Moisturizer (a must), make-up and deodorant may be worn, following advice of the below section: “Looking after your tan.”

MOISTURISER - a must!

Preferably oil free - containing natural ingredients- is key for a longer lasting tan. Your skin must stay nourished so it doesn’t become dry and shed dead skin cells along with your tan. Moisturize at least twice a day. There are products designed specifically for Spray Tanning, which Belleza Body recommends and can order in for you.
